PRESS

I've been getting lots of press attention in the last week or so which is great! Most of it to promote the Dalkey Winter Fair thats on this weekend. Its going to be a great event, from Fri to Sunday with about 3000 people expected to show up. I am busy making as much as I can which hasnt been easy as I just moved house last week and things have been all over the place!!
I have lots more events on over the next month which is great, more than ever before. Looking forward to them all!

Cows Lane Designer Studio

Im working in the Cows Lane Designer Studio today, its in Temple Bar. If you haven't been you should really come and check it out, its a collective of different talented designer and makers selling everything from clothes to t-shirts, to pottery to hair accessories, to jewellery to metal sculptures! Its a great great place to buy gifts and you are supporting local craftspeople.

Come on down sometime!

Forward planning

I've been busy making the last few days, looking forward to getting stuck back into the Designer Mart in Temple Bar. I've missed it over the last number of weeks! Its always good fun and this Sat the weather is supposed to be great, there will be music and of course loads of cool things to look at and buy.

Trying to get stock levels up for the month of October as there is so many winter and Christmas Fairs coming up in Nov and Dec its impossible to get on top of of it all...so pre planning is needed, something I'm not always the best at!

A breath of fresh air

Im looking into new trends and planning for Christmas in ASTRID land. Whilst the use of feathers will always be used in what I do, I am incorporating a lot more beading and BLING! I'm excited to see what the outcome is and how it goes, I think it will be popular! I have signed up for a lot of winter fairs so November and December will be busy for me, which is great. They are hard work, but I always enjoy doing the weekend events, always lovely to meet my customers.

I've been in Spain for ten days which was glorious. I was in Andalucia, in the south of Spain, the weather was great and it was as inspiring as ever. I love visiting there.

So now I am revived, refreshed and ready to knuckle down!

Busy busy!!

Summer is officially here and its wedding season!

Everyone is looking for a little something to finish off their wedding outfit and my hair accessories do just that! Im getting orders for brides, bridesmaids, wedding guests from near and far...so its busy busy! Of course their not just for weddings, you can wear them out for dinner, to a party, a ball, the races...work?! Why not!

The market on Sat was great, the sun was beating down and it was hot. It was very busy with lots of tourists, good atmosphere.

I have recently done a fantastic photo shoot so Im gonna get working on setting up my website this week. The photos turned out so well I am delighted with them. Danielle Barton who took the photos deserves a lot of credit, she was brilliant! If you ever need a photographer with a creative flair then look to Danielle. My models were also amazing, it helps having stunning friends...! Megan, Joyce and Ruth did so so well and I cant wait to show off their pictures!

Yay!

Spring is in the air

Clock went forward on Saturday night which was brought on eagerly awaited long evenings. I love this time of year, its very exciting, everything is starting to grow and come into bloom, you start looking forward and your days are longer!

The market on Saturday was great, a lovely day again apart from a freak 3 min rain pour! Typical Irish weather! Sold lots of my smaller pieces on Sat. It very interesting to see what sells each week, first week mainly my hibby bands, last week my big hairbands and last Sat the smaller clips were my big sellers. Guess I better do a bit of everything!

Got a mentioning and photo in the Life Magazine of the Sunday Independent yesterday which was cool. These pictures were taken by Edward Bala and have proved to be a great asset. I am now planning another bigger shoot which I will use for press and my website which very soon I will get working on!!

First weekend at Designer Mart

How can you blog without internet access?!

No internet access for 3 weeks. What does a modern woman do without it??

So here I am back online. Fantastic.

Over the past 6 weeks I have been to London and New York! All in the name of work and research....eh hmm!

London was brilliant, its a very cool city and I love the styles. There's something about the London fashion that makes it stand out from the rest of the world. Its very cool.

I went to Portobello market, Burough market and Brick Lane...all brilliant. My favourite was Brick Lane though, I got loads of ideas for my own stall and new ideas for my feathered pieces! A good weekend all round.

Then off I went to NYC! It was my first time there so quite an eye opener and experience. Its a huge HIGE city , very tall! Coming from Wicklow anything over 3 stories is tall mind you!!

Found some brilliant suppliers in the fashion district (if only we has "districts" here....dream...) so came home laiden down with feathers. Luckily it didn't effect my weight allowance!!

BIG news is that I am now selling at the Designer Mart on Cows Lane EVERY Sat from 10 -5. Its a cool market and I like the other stall holders, quality and general feel of the place. I think ASTRID will have a good relationship with it!

DIT Fashion show was last night at Vicar Street and ASTRID accessories were aplenty on the cat walk. Looking forward to hearing how it went and seeing pictures.

It's 2010 - Time to blog!

ASTRID is moving forward and it's time to blog!



2009 saw the start up of ASTRID. Ireland's newest Feather Hair Accessories!

Birds were plucked bald....guinea fowls, peacocks, pheasants, turkeys, turkeys, goose, ostrich's....all legitimately of course! Through these beautiful feathers ASTRID has made some fantastic hair accessories which have been snapped up in markets across Dublin and in Boutique Belle in Ashford!



It's been great meeting all my customers at the markets and seeing what you all think about them. It's inspired me to continue onwards and upwards for 2010!



So - I have lots in the pipeline for 2010! Watch this space for my new website, http://www.astrid.ie/ (under construction) where you will be able to buy directly from, see the whole collection and read all about the business. I am making visits to London and New York in the next 2 months to see exactly what is making fashion headlines for Spring/Summer 2010 and will translate them into my own ASTRID way for you to buy! I will be working specifically on a bridal collection...creating beautiful creations for your big day that are unique, delicate and simply stunning!
